Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) journals: the impact of an open-access policy

The aim of this research project is to:

review the literature on the expected and observed effects of open access policies in other countries
review the state of the value chain for the publication of research articles in the social sciences and humanities: the key players and their business models. The aim is to understand the economic models underpinning the current system for disseminating knowledge in the social sciences and humanities and how these might evolve in a digital world
assess the impact of open access under various scenarios involving statutory embargo periods, ranging from 6 months to 4 years after publication, on the research process
