Education and Youth
This area brings together the IPP’s research focusing on young people, from early childhood through to entry into the labour market. The key public policy questions are as follows: To what extent does the school system help to reduce or perpetuate social and gender inequalities? Which educational measures are most effective in promoting academic success, and at what cost? What skills, qualifications and training enable people to enter the labour market?
Taxation
This section brings together the IPP’s research on compulsory levies. The key public policy questions are as follows: What are the returns on these levies? Which categories of households and businesses do they target? How do these groups respond to increases or decreases in compulsory levies?
Labour
This area brings together the IPP’s work on the labour market and employment policies. The key public policy questions are as follows: Which groups are furthest from the labour market? How can barriers to employment and recruitment be removed?
Environment
This area of research brings together the IPP’s work, which involves both analysing and evaluating the impact of public environmental policies and estimating the environmental impact of any public policy.
Firms
This area brings together the IPP’s work relating to businesses. The key public policy questions are as follows: to what extent does corporate taxation act as a disincentive? To what extent do business support schemes achieve their intended objectives?
Health and autonomy
This area brings together the IPP’s work on healthcare provision and support for people experiencing a loss of independence. The key public policy issues are demographic planning and social and regional equality in access to healthcare.
Pensions
This research area brings together the IPP’s work on the French pension system. The key public policy questions are as follows: What impact do demographic trends have on the sustainability of the scheme? How should the current system be managed? Which inequalities are perpetuated, exacerbated or reduced in a system that is both contributory and redistributive? What are the expected or observed effects of the latest reforms?
