On 1 May 2020 – or ‘May Day 2.0’ – the traditional demonstrations took place on Facebook, Zoom, WhatsApp and Twitter, amongst others. Did these demonstrations simply reflect the very particular constraints of the country’s lockdown, or did they reveal a deeper trend towards the digital renewal of forms of political expression?
