In certain contexts, particularly in rural areas, geographical isolation also plays a key role in access to employment. The cost of accessing a training programme becomes much higher for jobseekers who are geographically isolated, even though they are more likely to face a labour market where jobs are few and far between and highly specialised due to their remote location.
