In his general policy statement delivered on Tuesday 14 January 2025 before the National Assembly, the Prime Minister announced his intention to revisit the issue of Pensions, in particular to address the demands that have been consistently voiced since the last reform. A ‘flash review’ lasting a few weeks will therefore be entrusted to the Court of Auditors to ‘ascertain the accuracy of the figures’, and a standing delegation bringing together the social partners on this issue will be convened in parallel, starting on Friday 17 January 2025. Based on the figures from the Court of Auditors, a social conference, meeting in closed session, will then have three months to reach “a balanced and fairer agreement” which can be incorporated into the next Social Security Funding Act – it having already been announced that, in the absence of an agreement, the current rules resulting from the latest reform will continue to apply.
