Context

PENSIPP is a simulator that calculates pensions under the French pension system. It therefore enables users to assess the impact of past reforms to the French pension system, on the one hand, and to simulate pensions under alternative systems (point-based or notional account systems), on the other.

Presentation

PENSIPP is a micro-simulation tool whose main purpose is to calculate pension entitlements based on detailed information on individual trajectories (demographic and occupational). PENSIPP calculates pension entitlements at a given age in accordance with the legislation of the French pension system or an alternative system. PENSIPP enables users not only to describe the various mechanisms of the current pension system and explain their effects, but also to simulate and evaluate potential reforms to the pension system in advance.

The PENSIPP model was developed as part of a scientific partnership between the IPP and INSEE’s ‘Redistribution and Social Policies’ division, which developed the Destinie micro-simulation model, on which PENSIPP is partly based. The model was subsequently developed and expanded as part of the GenPensGap project, funded by the European Commission’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme.
