The current pension reform bill aims, broadly speaking, to extend working lives and raise the retirement age. However, it also provides for various flexibilities designed to mitigate, or even offset, these increases for categories of insured persons perceived as having had more difficult working lives or who are no longer able to remain in employment. Among these, one measure proposes to extend the options for early retirement before the age of 64 for those with long working lives, by broadening the scheme introduced in 2003, which had already been extended once before in 2012. The author revisits this scheme.
