Presentation

Since the start of the 2017 school year, the City of Paris and the Paris Education Authority have been trialling a new method for allocating pupils to state middle schools / lower secondary schools: Multi-school catchment areas. This scheme involves defining catchment areas shared by several geographically close middle schools / lower secondary schools, with a view to rebalancing their social composition. Drawing on a wealth of data provided by the Paris Regional Education Authority, this report assesses the impact of multi-school catchment areas on social diversity and avoidance behaviour.
