This project aims to analyse the processes of social and gender differentiation in educational pathways that come into play during the guidance and placement of Year 9 pupils in the Paris education authority. It forms part of a research collaboration with the Paris Regional Education Authority and is based on the analysis of a previously unpublished survey conducted amongst pupils enrolled in Year 9 at state secondary schools during the 2012–2013 academic year, as well as on administrative data provided by the Paris Regional Education Authority and the DEPP.
